The newly upgraded and expanded Skatepark is now open!
The skatepark of l’Alfàs del Pi is now operational after the expansion works carried out by the City Council of l’Alfàs del Pi. An improvement project included in the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) ‘L’Alfàs del Pi Healthy Territory’ has also led to the creation of a new green area next to the Pau Gasol pavilion.
“These are facilities that are already at full capacity and that present a variable difficulty, depending on the areas and elements, adapted to any discipline, both skateboarding, rollerblades and scooter,” explained the Councilor for Urban Planning, Toni Such, after visiting the skatepark with several councilors of the Government team, including the mayor of Sports, José Plaza.
In addition, gardening has been promoted in this area through the planting of Mediterranean shrubs and tree species, lighting has been increased throughout the area and concrete benches and litter bins have been installed. Accessibility between the annex football pitch and the municipal car park has also been improved.
New green area next to the Pau Gasol pavilion!
This EDUSI project has also included the creation of a new green area with a cross country circuit, children’s play area and picnic area on another 13,000 m² plot located in the area behind the Pau Gasol pavilion.
More than 300 specimens of casuarina and mastic trees have been planted in this space. The gardening work also included the installation of an automated irrigation network. In the area closest to the sports centre, a play area with children’s games has been set up, where wooden tables and benches have also been installed.
In this new green area, a network of trails has been created with itineraries suitable for diverse types of users: runners, cyclists, or hikers. Benches and litter bins have also been set up.
The City Council of l’Alfàs del Pi invites the population to visit the new facilities, which are already at full capacity. This action was part of Thematic Objective 6 of the EDUSI, which revolves around conserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency, improving the state of urban land and its recovery for environmentally friendly public uses.
