Algar Waterfalls is only 15 km from Benidorm and 3 km from the center of Callosa d’en Sarrià, direction Bolulla. You can find a natural area with major focus on conservation of the ecological richness. The area is a Wetland protected by the Valencian Government. Visitors can follow a circuit of 1.5 km in length along, where you can walk through the bed of the river Algar (“cave ” in Arabic), see the spectacular waterfalls and the numerous sources springs that spring from the rock, the “tolls” (pools of water) where you can take refreshing swims in crystal clear waters, known before as “a source of health”, the old dam, the imposing century-old canal and ditches still in use. You will find park services oriented to facilitate and enrich your visit with environmental education resources as well as: tourist office, parking areas, toilets, first aid, Arboretum, picnic areas and camping. Don’t miss Dino Park Algar, and please enjoy the 5 restaurants nearby the Waterfalls, where you can experience the typical gastronomy of the area.
- Driving to Algar from Altea or Calpe: Take the N-332 road to Urbanizacion Sierra Altea, then follow CV-755 to Callosa d’En Sarria (2 minutes from the waterfall).
- Driving to Algar from Benidorm: Take the CV-715 via La Nucia and Polop direct to Algar.
- Parking: Plenty of parking in the village of Algar. There are two entrances to the waterfall area. One at the center of the village and another at the very end. You can pass through Algar and find parking at the second entrance.
- Entrance Fee: Free to 5 Euros, depending on age and season. Life guards are on duty.
- Clothing: Take your bathing suit and a pair of good shoes. The river is full of stones.
- Outside the second entrance area is an additional picnic and barbecue area with a small camping ground.
