23rd l’Alfàs del Pi Theatre Festival

11 March @ 9:00 AM 15 March @ 11:00 PM

The 23rd Mostra de Teatre de l’Alfàs del Pi will continues Tuesday with the company Lunatando, which will stage ‘Las herida del viento’, directed by Emilio Zaplana. This work shows two forces – the paternal-filial and the loving – and puts them in conflict because they offer contrasting perspectives of the same beings.

On Wednesday 12th, ‘El laberinto del tiempo’ (The Labyrinth of Time) arrives at the Casa de Cultura. It is a play written and directed by Arlene Iribarren Cobo . In the middle of the opening of a luxurious restaurant, a mysterious clock traps all the guests in a time loop. As they relive the night over and over again, appearances crumble, revealing their secrets.

On Thursday 13th, the Arteatro company presents ‘Presas’, a play written by Ignacio del Moral and Verónica Fernández, directed by Ana Maestre. In a women’s prison in post-war Spain, a pardon is to be granted to celebrate the jubilee of Saint Perpetuo. This pardon is only granted once every 10 years and is the only opportunity that the inmates have to escape from the hole in which they are mistreated, humiliated and used for the most despicable jobs.

On Friday 14th, the Alpí Teatre company presents ‘En la luna’, directed by Ricardo Molina. In a fictional Spain on the Moon, with the Earth in the background, nine vibrant scenes mix comedy and shadows to explore the Spanish transition in a surreal way.

Finally, the week dedicated to amateur theatre will conclude on Saturday 15th with ‘Medea’, a well-known tragedy by Euripides that will be staged by the Mascarat company under the direction of Manuel Troncoso.

The twenty-third Mostra de Teatre de l’Alfàs will resume from 26 to 30 March with professional theatre works. This year, the organisation is paying tribute to the actress Silvia Marsó with the presentation of the emblematic ‘Pi d’Honor’ , the award with which the City Council of l’Alfàs recognises the professional career of great performers.

The week dedicated to professional theatre includes the plays ‘Los tacones de papá’, by Zarpa Producciones, on Wednesday 26th; ‘Madness’, by Yllana, on Thursday 27th; ‘Los días de la nieve’, with Rosario Pardo, on Friday 28th; ‘Claveles’, by Emma Riverola, on Saturday 29th, with the presentation of the Pi d’Honor to the actress Silvia Marsó, and finally, ‘Plüvia’, by the company Ü Producciones, on Sunday 30th.
