La Creueta festivities in l’Alfàs del Pi

La Creueta festivities in l’Alfàs del Pi
2 May @ 1:00 PM – 4 May @ 6:00 PM
Once again this year, the La Ferrería neighborhood in l’Alfàs del Pi will be dressed up for the traditional La Creueta festivities from May 2nd to 4th. Cultural, recreational, and religious events will take place over three days. These are heartfelt celebrations. The cross is decorated with flowers, and activities are organized, enjoying a great popular following.

La Creueta is a stone cross located on Ferreries Street, dating back to 1889. A festival is held in its honor the first weekend of May, coinciding with the seasonal change and the arrival of spring, as part of the tradition of May crosses widespread in many parts of Spain.
Rosendo Olmedo chairs the Creueta Festival Committee, which, in collaboration with the Department of Festivals and Traditions, has organized a varied program of activities aimed at all audiences.

On Friday, May 2nd, at 1:00 PM, the start of the festivities will be announced with the traditional ringing of the bells. At 8:00 PM, the Creueta Festival Committee bar will open, serving drinks and food at affordable prices. The local band Daños a Terceros will provide the music, offering a repertoire of pop and rock covers from the 80s and 90s. The festivities will continue with DJ David Furylo.
On Saturday the 3rd, the morning will begin with the floral decoration of the cross. For the little ones, the children’s world will begin at 11:00 a.m., with bouncy castles, entertainment, and games. The festivities will continue at 1:30 p.m. with the music of the Bandeta La Lira.
As usual, the Creueta Festival Committee is organizing a giant paella to benefit the Alfàs Social Volunteer Association. This charitable initiative is being launched to raise funds for the Alfàs Food Bank. Servings (3 euros) can be purchased on the day of the event.
In the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, a “Tardeo” (Afternoon Tea) event will begin with a musical performance by the group Xeco Rojo. In the evening, sandwiches can be enjoyed at affordable prices at the bar. After dinner, there will be a popular dance with a performance by Orquesta Nexus.
On Sunday the 4th, at 11:30 a.m., a parade will begin with festival representatives and local authorities, and at 12:00 p.m., a field mass will be celebrated, officiated by the parish priest Miguel Ángel Schiller and sung by the L’Alfàs Canta Polyphonic Choir. At the end, the girl Mar Devesa Juan will recite the poem “La Creueta” (The Creueta), and a tribute will be paid to Isabel Berenguer Llorens, known as Isabel “La Peluquera,” a local resident with a close connection to the festival.
This will be followed by traditional dances led by the queen and the ladies, directed by Paco “El Bessó,” an event open to the general public. The morning will conclude with a communal aperitif.
To conclude these traditional festivities, in the afternoon at 4:30 p.m., a children’s musical show, “El viatge de les emocions,” will take place in the Plaza de la Creueta. Snacks will be provided for all attendees.
The Festival Committee would like to thank the La Lira Musical Society and the L’Alfàs Canta Choir for their participation. Our thanks also extend to all the individuals and organizations that have collaborated to make these festivals possible.
Both the Department of Festivals and Traditions of l’Alfàs and the Creueta Commission have called for the participation of all citizens.
