Poncia – Palau Altea

25 April @ 8:00 PM 9:40 PM

Starring LOLITA FLORES!

Inside a fog storm, Poncia, Bernarda Alba’s maid, prays for Adela’s death. The house has been plunged into a sea of silence. Poncia talks to herself and also to them, to Bernarda Alba and her daughters.

This text is written from the interventions of the character of Poncia in the play ‘La casa de Bernarda Alba’ by Federico García Lorca. In a deep analysis of the character, Luis Luque rescues Poncia’s interventions and turns them into reflection, soliloquies, dialogues with ghosts and shadows. In this way, a new look inside the house is illuminated. In the original work we witness a succession of events that unfold in chronological order. Here, in this Poncia, no. She speaks after the shock produced by Adela’s suicide. Everything happens after his death.

We listen to the voice of the maid to illuminate the dark corners of Lorca’s work. Poncia talks about suicide, freedom, guilt, class, education and sex. And he speaks it with all the force of a voice that has been mistreated and silenced. The soul of “La Poncia” opens up to insist on the need to transfer to others the idea of loving ourselves in freedom.
